240 Hour Transit Visa Exemption
China currently grants a 240 hour transit visa exemption to nationals of 55 countries (24 hour transit visa exemption policy at all its open ports for nationals of all countries). Eligible travelers holding valid international travel documents and confirmed onward tickets to a third country or region may enter China without a visa through any of the 60 designated ports across 24 provinces. They may stay in designated areas for up to 10 days. During this period, activities such as tourism, business, visits, and family visits are permitted. Nationals of 46 countries including Brunei, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Aus-tralia, Poland, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Andorra, Monaco, Liechtenstein, South Korea, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain holding valid ordinary passports can be exempted from visa requirement if entering into China for the purpose of business, tourism, family or friends visits, exchange and transit. They can stay in China for no more than 30 days without visa.
